Bloggers Bake for Hope

According to the American Cancer Society, within their lifetime, nearly 1 in every 8 women in America will be diagnosed with breast cancer. With those kinds of odds, chances are you know someone who has or has had breast cancer. You know the strength of these women (and men) to fight every single day, and the inspiration they give to all of us around them. With over 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the United States alone, early detection and treatment have been essential in saving so many lives, but there is still a long way to go to finding a cure. So what can you do to help fight breast cancer, find a cure, and honor the millions all over the world who have been affected? How about simply eating dessert?

I’m honored to be participating in Bloggers Bake for Hope, a virtual bake sale to raise money for breast cancer research. The event, which starts today, May 4th, and goes through Friday May 6th, features over 60 different items to bid on, baked and donated by bloggers and home bakers like me, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Massachusetts affiliate. (Jen of Beantown Baker and Cara of Cara’s Cravings, the organizers of the event, are both from Massachusetts.) We hope to raise at least $2000 with the event, and with bidding already started, we're well on our way!

I’m offering up 2 dozen of my Blue Ribbon winning Chocolate Chip Cookies to the highest bidder! You could have these delicious beauties show up right at your front door! All you have to do is head over to Bloggers Bake for Hope to see the full list of items to bid on, look for me (The Busty Baker) and my cookies on the list, or find any other item that makes your mouth water, and leave a comment on the post with your bid. If you’re the winner, your baked good will be mailed to you once your donation has been made through Paypal! Easy, right? What could be better than baked goods for a good cause?

I know that times are tough for many of us right now, and on some items, the bidding might get too steep for our budgets. If you want to help out, but can’t afford to bid on the items available, you can donate to Susan G. Komen for the Cure directly through the official website. Or search for a local affiliate in your area to donate to. There are tons of ways to help out, so whether you’re bidding, donating, running for the cure, or even just passing the BB4H link along to all your friends, please join me in honoring all those who have been diagnosed, and all those that will, to help find a cure.

P.S. - I'm really excited that the bidding for my cookies is already up to $30!!
